I think I could do it in one word: Negativity.

So many people just whine on about “oh it’s Christmas again”, and it really decreases from the value of the event, I think. In all likelyhood we heard the people complaining about it last Christmas, so there’s really no need for them to repeat themselves other than putting a relatively small and irritating pin in everyone elses happy balloon.
